i need to get a decent pic of my children for the missus, i took afew this morning but not impressed with them tbh.

i dont have of camera flash or back grounds all i got is the camera, am i wasting my time or is there someway of still being able to get good shots.

in desperate need lol

Hi Mat,

My best portraits of the kids have taken with natural or ambient light.

I don't know how you approach it but "sit there while I take your picture" doesn't always work.
Catching them at play or involved in something seems to work better.
Lots of patients lots of shots in the bin but you will get some that are really good.
With today's cameras and editing software you can sort out the white balance and exposure. (If you have it shot in RAW) You can also edit out or defocus the rubbish in the background.
