Don't get it. Here is why - the new version of that processor will very soon be in the computers for sale.

It is a big deal because instead of having 2 cores, it will have 4.

4 cores have never been seen on cheaper intel i3 processors ever before and 2 cores will look very old and dated soon.

Just hold out till you see CPU intel i3 8100 or similar. Not the current i3 7xxx versions

Thanks for the info, any idea when that will start shipping ?

Personally insufficient RAM and SSD too small
I would want 16gb and 250gb minimum
Have a look here

https://www.cclonline.com/

They build pretty good machines and are very helpful if you give them a call

I imagine they are in the "lets get rid of as much old stock as possible faze"
Then before XMAS they will be in the "lets sell as much new stock in the XMAS buying rush" faze

Just bought a used quad core i5 for £250

From my eyes looks a bit expensive although Wondows 10 64x included.

old CPU
16gb minimum and a larger SSD

All i5 are quad core. There are 8 generations of i5 of 8 different values.

You have to go by the number code to tell them apart to avoid being hoodwinked by companies selling early generations that are worthless nowerdays

IIRC i5 and i7 chips ending with a U are dual core (usually found in laptops).

Agree with those who say that's expensive for the spec.

Right, so the sales here - find me the PC you would buy, for general useage and Photo processing using LR - Ideally sub £600 but can allow small budget creep.......

Current pc crashes very time I use it so has to, but has i3 550, with 4gb Ram, 250 SSD and 1tb secondary.....

Dont have any real speed issues that Ive noticed, just want reliabilty and the ability to maybe play some steam stuff that isnt Half Life....

First question - How confident are you in building your own pc?

You could use your old hard drives in your new build to make your budget go a little further if you were to build it yourself.

Trouble is for £600 these days they only give you either a small ssd or big hdd. Not a combo like you have now because it is expensive.

If you can find one for roughly that money that has a combo and 8gb ddr4 ram then get that.

If you get one without a combo then you are going backwards.

If you get one that has a combo but only 4gb ddr4 then also that is a crap deal. Back it 2012 people wanted 16gb ram even though it was ddr3 and not the newer ddr4

I *could* porbably do it, but I dont want the faff, and I really want new stuff, evon tho both drives are recent.....
