Possible lens?

Watched a parrot show whilst away the guy took photos of people holding the birds He stood about a meter to a meter and a half away to take the pictures has anyone any idea of the type of lens he would need to take these photos he had a dslr but not sure of make or model I think it was a zoom

Could be almost anything. Even telephotos like a 70-200 will focus down to 1.2m. Depends on whether he was cropping in tight or taking a wider angle.

Thanks I was just curious as he took his shots so quick I couldnt make out what lens he used

This was taken with a D200 or D70 with a Sigma 12-24 at the short end. The bird is (IIRC) a Eurpean Eagle Owl and is perched on my left hand while my right is taking the photo.

I wondered how they got so close without distorting the face features the 12-24 seams to show perfectly how thankyou

Start getting features near the corners and they WILL get distorted by any wide angle but keep the subject fairly central and parallel with the sensor plane and as long as you're not too close you can usually get away with it.
