at first glance it looks a little pricey?

let me have a look this evening when ive got a bit of time and i'll look properly, the SAN here is playing up at the moment.. :bat:

Cheers must be going blind I think if I can't find it cheaper in bits.

Google says £400 for this lot, only you will know if the rest is worth the difference?

.......especially with your Mac tag LOL!

I think the memory was Corsair though.

If you intend to do any kind of networking I'd avoid the Home versions of Win7, they are crippled in that respect.

not strictly true. homegroups are performance sapping. but you only need more than home if you run a domain.

i should add "supposedly" to performance sapping, there are lots of reports across the internet but i dont use them personally.

all scan prices = £622.64 ex VAT and ex carriage.. obviously you could get that down a bit more by dropping to 6gb and getting a different graphics card, i think my 4550 cost less and has twin DVI for example

didnt put a card reader in, im guessing you have one already?

Neil_g remind me to get you to price me s pc in April when I come to upgrade.

It's nice to see custom builds can still compete on price.

Paul

Hey thanks for that Neil something to think about.

yup loads of card readers:)

Having thought about it.
Do I really want to lose my lovely Silverstone Temjin TJ09 case. I may just buy a cheapo bog standard case with the new system and put my old core 2 duo system in that, the n flog it off.

even more money for new toys :naughty:

Indeed, I shall miss my GeForce 8800GTX Ultra when it goes though, a true beast of a card.

i havent had a decent graphics card for donkeys, thats how little gaming i do these days.. i think it might have been an old S3 Virge and a Voodoo 2 3dfx :D

at least the 4650 runs modern warfare 2 at medium settings, havent tried black ops yet but thats as i cant fit it on the SSD

I rebuilt mine just after christmas and paid £760 for this lot from Aria (collected as only 8 miles away)

Core i5 760 quad 2.8ghz processor
Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3 motherboard
Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3
Gigabyte GeForce GT 430 OC "Dual Fan" 1024MB GDDR3 Low Profile PCI-Express
Kingston 64GB SSD for O/S and Apps
2 x 1TB Spinpoint F3 in Raid 1 for data
Coolermaster 430 Case
Titan Fenrir CPU Cooler
LiteOn IHAS324-32 24x Internal DVD±R/RW SATA Drive
Card Reader
Windows 7 Professional

The SSD makes a noticeable difference when booting up/shutting down & launching apps and was worth the extra cash

To be honest I don't find my Ssd boots any quicker than my old 1tb Samsung F1. But app loading and shutting down is quicker. It can also be a pain with the lack of size, I've got win7 and all of my apps installed and its used nearly 70% :(
