Yes
I heard at todays wedding that changes in the register system might affect photographers.
It seems here in Wales the registrar office is planning on charging wedding photographers/others if they cause any delay in the service.
How this would work in practice is anybodies guess, more often than not it's the registrar that delays the photographer in my experience.
It does raise the questions.
A. how would they prove it was the photographer and not the bride/groom/other who caused the delay.
B. if the tog is working for the B+G are they resposible anyway or would togs just add that to the contract.
C. if the bride causes a delay (as is often the case) will they charge her.
D if the registrar causes a delay can we charge them.
Cant see this helping anybody myself.

Sounds like a bit of a dead end...don't know how they could justify it? How many extra man hours would it take to argue out whose problem it was? Far more than was wasted in the first place....

Have you got a link to this info?

From the registrar at todays wedding, it's something to do with the way they are administered, thats changing, she wasn't joking, we know them well, she's thinking of packing the job in now, so there must be a lot of changes for them as well.

LOL. That sounds like a real crock of poo! I did get a very frosty reception when I turned up to do the shots at a posh country club wedding once .It turned out the photographer the previous Saturday, had messed everyone about to the extent that they were an hour late sitting down for the meal and staff had a hell of a game keeping food warm. You really can't defend that sort of behaviour from photographers, but it's difficult to see how a photographer can substantially hold up a registry office ceremony anyway.

Sounds like more politics and a new broom sweeping clean. ;)

Some of these registrars are a pain in the backside as it stands so god help us if they can start having something else to point the finger at and blame us for. I hate them, all of them:D and throw in narky vicars i hate them to :D

had a nice one today though so i like him:D and tomorrows is a bit of a pain but likeable, no flash (but its well lit anyway) one photographer up front and stand still no moving about:bat:.

Its a long one tomorrow for me from midday to midnight but we get fed great location small party about 50 so managable just a bit knackered after todays but got some crackin shots:D

double headers they dont half take it out of me these days:(

Amen!!!

my dad got married at the belfry golf course as they had a little registry offie and the photographers could only take snaps on cue and the woman who was the "i know pronounce you" vicar thingy said that the pro's had to take the first photo's then freinds and family could. i think however that the tog's were contracted by the belfry so thats a different story.

Got to totally disagree guys I have seen numerous wedding togs delay the start of ceremonies at churches and registry offices and later at the reception. Most Togs will only have one wedding to deal with but churhes and Registry offices can have many in a day,5 minutes delay on each one really shafts the couple at the end of the queue.
I may not have taken the best wedding photographs ever but I made damn sure it was not because I had upset the Vicar, Registrar or Hotel manager

Twice this year I have had brides over 45 minutes late, one was 55 minutes late, due to tearing her dress putting it on. If we then spend another 5 minutes getting the before going in shots, who is the registrar going to blame for all the delay?
If they actually do try to do this it's going to cause some interesting disputes.

had a good one today, let me do anything I wanted!

got out of my way to shoot the bride walking in and let me shoot the register signing!

result!

Hopefully common sense will prevail and they'll just fine the family directly. If it's the photographer's fault, I'm sure they'll let them know pronto.

Can't understand why they don't do this already actually. Lateness on that scale has the potential to screw up plenty of other people's days.

smeels like office bullsh* to me.
cant see how theyd operate it myself.
and yes, its usualy them that hold us up.
most registrars we deal with are very proffesional and sensible people. the odd few are a***holes.
were very carefull not to upset vicars/registrars. they often have a very long memory.
