I'm looking at logos at the moment, what works with watermarking, whether it should be graphical or text based, conceptual or image etc and wondering what people are using already. May provide a good reference for people in my position in the future as well.

If you'd like to post a copy of your logo and why it works for you I'd be grateful. What decision process did you go through when choosing it? Did you do it or employ a professional?

Any help appreciated.

I had a thread on this a while ago when I looked at designing mine and I have to say it was bloody hard work. So many ideas, so many things to think about and no simple and easy way to get it done.

In the end I opted for this because I decided to ditch the classic idea of the typical camera type logos or just a signature font etc. I dont suppose my idea is unique but it works for me and the website I am working on at the moment will fit in with this quite well.

Oh and I did it myself, didnt pay anybody, just used CS4 as it was a pretty simple idea in the end and simple to produce.

Mine is as per the image below, or variations of, ie losing the URL.

This Is what I use, made it using a dedicated logo maker program
I wanted something clean and simple and not to difficult to both create and twek in the future if I want too.
Program used was AAA Logo Maker

Made it myself in Adobe Illustrator - might make a new one soon though as that one was a rush job!

Created in CS3, just for a cheap Clikpic site, and for leisure rather than business.

Like it, very nice

Cheers for the info. Got a couple of ideas but currently weighing up both the graphical and text styles.

Gary, I've always liked your logo and especially the brand. Do people remember your name easily, or do you find yourself having to spell it out (especially for the URL?).

It's something that interested me a lot with the branding and the name I'm looking at right now is quite 'conceptual' with no real meaning.

so far its worked quite well.. people remember it, but they normally remember it as ex why namic
but most people seem to like it. But its a bit like opodo, ocado, bebo etc, its just a silly word that no one had already registered as a domain name :)

and if you didnt guess, the logo itself is a Y overlapping an X

Again, I like the opodo brand as a word that is pretty much meaningless but built a good brand around it - that is the plan with the URL i've just bought.

I'm not sure how long my job is going to be safe for and currently building a portfolio based around Event Management and photography so 'Full Frame Images' doesn't really fit that too well. The new brand isn't associated with a particular industry and I've already checked that the photo URL is available (and bought) and so is an events type URL. It's just building the two together now.

I went for a simple logo that lends itself to many variations (including additions of text, for example "LCPR Photography" or "LCPR Design". LCPR are my initials. Here's an example of it in use (there's also one in my sig):
