Praying Hoverfly

Wow how do you get these so sharp and so close?
You are using some extension tubes or something to get up close and personal?
I notice you are using a 100mm lens. I'm using a 90mm so that shouldn't be much difference but I never am able to get so close.
 
This was quite a large hoverfly which helped, but it is also cropped a bit so it's closer in. Not using any tubes yet, planning on buying some though

Are you using a flash or some sort of additional light?
1/200 on f/10 and iso 200 seem so fast.
When I use this combo I get a shutter of 1/60 tops.
 
Yeah using the Canon 430EX II flash with a home made diffuser. I posted my set up in the post your rigs thread at the top the other day if you want to see it.
