Praying Mantis face

Strangely coloured praying mantis from Spain a couple of weeks ago. I thought they were green - Clearly not in this case, it was a real brown / pink colour all over. Taken with onboard flash as I was without the speedlite at the time. Apologies for the harsh light around the eyes.

Looking real noisey too - Damn 7D, struggling with this camera I have to say.

This to me is crazy...coming from the UK, the only insects i have to shoot are flys, spiders, bees, wasps, etc........and even the spiders we have are pretty dull.....would have to try extremely hard to get a photo of one of these......

And sorry to hear about the 7D......such a shame. Heard mixed things, wondering how the new 1D mark 4 will fair when the reviews start.....

Mmm F/22 ISO 800, and onboard flash. Can you post a link to an uncropped version Sara?
