pre-Ai Nikkor lens on D5000...yes?

I have used a 50mm f2 Ai lens from my F3 ....works fine in manual on D5000

but F3 and 50mm f2 going to ffordes - no interest here..:thumbsdown:

looking at getting a 28mm Nikkor for the D5000 for occasional use

a recent eBay Business Seller says
"" Reports on the Internet suggest that the latest budget Nikon digital bodies (the ........and D5000) can be used with pre-AI lenses, but we have not been able to confirm this, ""

KR states pre-Ai[non-Ai] Nikkors can be used
indeed shows a Nikkor-H mounted on his D40

so who to believe...? can I mount a Pre-Ai lens on my D5000..?...thanks

That's right, any, as in pre-AI lenses can be put on this camera and used without damaging it. Of course you'll be metering and focusing manually, but the presence of Live View can make focusing easier.'

HEhe...dont worry...wont be buying anything for a while; just bought a new PC for £1200 so have to clear that first :shake:
I quite like the look of the Vivitar Macro lenses (90mm and 55mm) they have though.....
