Price drop likely?

In the next couple of years I am really strongly thinking about getting a Canon 400mm f2.8 IS prime for sports shooting. I see there is going to be a mkII of this lens soon. Is this likely to effect the 2nd hand price of the mkIs? They currently go for around £3500-4000 for what I can gather.

Once the early adopters tax has dissipated and then the general downward trend has happened then yes - I expect to see a reduction in the prices. Give it a year though i'd think.

However don't be surprised if at least briefly the used price increases. the 70-200mm F2.8 IS did this when the new version came out.
