Price of Sony 18-135mm?

When I bought mine it was from Camera Centre UK, through Amazon marketplace, it was described as "taken from a Sony a77 kit". They had a lot of them for sale for £200/220 back then. I think that was a one off. You'll probably have to pay about £220-250 second hand for one now-a-days but it's a fantastic lens.

I've asked elsewhere but does anyone have a clue why the price of this lens has yoyoed so much? It's currently way too expensive for me especially given what is used to cost!
What controls this?

Is there a sensible alternative?
k
& I believe that I've answered you elsewhere...;)
Still same answer - as Micehorns said the cheap ones were split from kits & it appears that there are only proper retail packaged versions available now.
The nearest alternative is the 16-105 DT which will probably be dearer again.

You can get one for € 302.00 (about £255) including delivery from https://www.foka.nl (Netherlands). [Shop located in Rotterdam and has been around for over 85 years according to their website]. If you don't speak Dutch then Google Chrome browser will automatically offer to translate the site into English. :) (Might be a charge from your bank /credit card company for paying in Euros though and/or they may use a less favourable exchange rate - so maybe add an extra 5% or so or check with them first).

Anywhere in the EU will have no duty and vat included, so might be other places even cheaper, but that came up on a quick Google search. Not as good as the £200 white box deal, but £100 cheaper than the UK prices and cheaper than grey imports (eg: Digital Rev @£289).
