Prime lens for 40d

I am looking at replacing my Sigma 24-70 f2.8 EX DG DF with either a Sigma 30mm f1.4 or a Canon 35mm f2 as primes tend to suit my style of photography more than zooms.

I have done quite a lot of searching but struggling to find anything current so wondered if there are any users using either combo and if anyone can comment on problems or issues?

I use the Sigma 30mm with a 40D, easily my favourite combination and I probably use it 80+% of the time. For me it's a natural focal length, it's fast enough for low light and the image quality is very good. It also stitches well for panoramas.

The only problem I have had is in using it with a R72 infrared filter, something about the lens design causes a hotspot in the image.

Other than that, it's perfect for me and my style. I'll often not bother taking another lens with me even when going on holiday. I'd recommend reading this discussion to anyone wondering about its suitability as a travel lens.
