prime lenses and crop sensor DSLRs

I have quite a few m42 prime lenses all of which work fine on both my EOS film camera and 50D.

I recently bought a faulty prinzgalaxy 35mm f3.5, the fault was with the lens aperture which i've repaired.

after rebuilding i found i couldn't achieve correct focus on my 50D but it seems ok on my full frame film camera (using the same adapter).

I've never had a problem with m42 lenses on my 50D before and never had a problem with a lens not focusing after reassembling them in the past and stupidly didn't check on the camera before stripping down.

wondering if anyone knows if some m42 lenses aren't compatible with crop sensors??

I have no specific specialist knowledge here, but I can't see any way for such an incompatibility to arise. The lens doesn't know what type of camera it's attached to. And a crop sensor is nothing more than the central portion of a full frame sensor. So if you can get a good image in the central part of your full frame sensor, I can't see any reason why you couldn't get a good image in your crop sensor.
