I'm been looking for a couple of Nikon lenses for some time and manual focus versions rarely come up on ebay auctions, apart from 50mm. It's possible I haven't looked at the right time of course. The few that do seem to go for a hefty premium.

Do Nikon lenses mostly get sold via specialist shops? Are they gathering dust in private collections? I'm particularly interested in a wide aperture 35 and 85/105 if anyone knows of such. I have them in autofocus versions but it's not the same on a nice old camera.

Very good lens, I have also the better "close focus" version..just won another close focus for £6 inc for Canon FD, others were for Olympus and Minolta.

And I have bought several things from Steve. He stuffs are better than described, usually

I've got an OM version too its a great lens.

....and you might agree with me in saying:- that the only weakness other than it's not a Zeiss is it needs a hood as it flares a bit more easily.

Most modern Nikon lenses have the option via a switch on the lens to go auto or manual focus so I can't really see your problem.

It's much the same as putting a fibreglass spoiler and bodykit on a Morgan 3 wheeler. The OP stated he had them in AF versions already, and presumably wants something that matches the age/appearance of an older camera.

Quite - I put an AF 35mm Nikkor onto my F2 the other day to have a 'play' and it looked very silly...:shake:

Thanks for the replies. As expected it's not going to be a cheap route, with ffordes offering a mint 35mm f2 at £450! The AF lenses are usable as Nikon kept a vestigial focussing ring unlike some, but it's not as effective as the manual versions, or as aesthetic.
I'll have to cut my cloth and go for dimmer apertures or clones or keep scouring the auctions.
