Prime n Zoom Setup for event photography (nikon)

Hi all.

After dropping my gorgeous tammy 17-50 f2.8 VC which is now a 17-35 manual focus lens

I'm selling everything off to get to this setup for corporate events, business portraits and actor headshots + the occasional wedding

D300 and Grip
35mm f1.8
85mm f1.8
Sigma 70 - 200 f2.8

I want to buy a cheapo second body - as i cant keep stealing my mates D90 and was thinking of picking up the D70s or D40x? or maybe i should just rent a d90... i used to have a d40x and looking back the IQ are more than adequate - only problem is apart from the 35 the other 2 lenses would be MF.

Best wide angle option? as i cant keep borrowing his sigma 10-20 either

I think your only viable option is a cheap D90, screw drive for the lenses and virtually identical IQ to the D300 and both 12.3 mpx, which has got to make things easy when PPing/cropping.
