The prime will be a fixed focal length normally associated with being sharper and having a wider aperture.
A zoom with be more flexible but generally less sharp and narrower apertures.
If you plan on using it soley for macro a wide aperture isn't needed as the shot is normally stepped down to about f9 or f11 to get sufficient depth of field
Also a prime macro will normally be 1:1 magnification whereas I have never seen a zoom cabable of 1:1 on it's own .. someone may know different though.
I've used both a Sigma 105mm f/2.8 and a Tamron 90mm f/2.8 on a Nikon D70. I ended up buying a Tamron because that came up for sale locally 2nd hand before a Sigma did. The "Macro" designation on zooms generally means that the lens will focus a bit closer than the non-macro version.
