what combination of primes do most of you use for weddings? on FF.

I have the 35/85 combo which I like but I like to perspective of the 50 focal length.

Considering swapping by 35 for a 24 which will serve for wider group shots and tight spaces. Leaving my 50 on one body permenantly and swapping the 24/85 depending on needs.

I presume most don't regularly use much wider than a 24?

Hi,

I'm not a wedding photographer. I'm not even a photographer, I'm just an amateur that likes making some photos. :D

I would say that something wider than 24mm would be very useful for some group shots in some tighter spaces, maybe even a fisheye. They wouldn't be the most used lens in a wedding, though.
Just my humble opinion. :\

I did a ceremony at the weekend and used the 35mm and 50mm. I have now ordered a 85mm.

Personally, i found the 35 mm was wide enough for everything but could see it being a problem in tight spaces. I read a review on this the other day and the 35/85 combo was the most popular. Saying that, I would never give up my 50.

The 35 was putting me too close to the couple and felt in their faces a bit so used the 50, but would much prefer to have an 85 too.

I might might a cheap 24/28 AFD lens at some point, or the 28mm f1.8 to add to the trio, but happy with the 35/50/85 combo at the moment.

it really is each to their own and depends on your shooting style, but I'll use all of those below during the day at some point to get the results I'm after, but could get away with just the 35/58 or 35/85 if I needed to.

I've never shot a wedding. But. I'm always careful about shooting groups in confined spaces and using wide angles to get everyone in as those towards the edges of the frame may well sue me.

35 and 85 as my go to lenses. I also have a 135 and a 24 in the bag if I need them, but they can stay in the bag for period of time

I'm glad you asked this question OP as it hasn't been asked since last week. I was worried a week might go by without the question being asked :D

A pal who is a wedding photographer tells me 24 and 85 cover most bases for him.

24 is too wide for me 35 and 85 combo suits my needs best
