Been looking for anew printer and looking at the prices of ink cartridges too, do not wanting to be paying more for the ink than what the printer is actually worth.

But I know you can get origional cartridges but I have also seen some compatible ones too but they say "chipped"

What does this mean??

Unless you do a LOT of photo printing at home, laser printers is the way to go. Not too hot on photos (but that's where a printing lab comes into its own) but WAAAY cheaper than inkjet.

As to chipped, it means that either an old cartridge has had a new chip installed or it has been modded to fool the printer it is an OEM product.

As long as you're not expecting great resulkts from photos, you'll be really pleased. I have a 2 year old Samsung LP here. Used occasionally (sometimes have to shake the ink cartridges) but works, and costs £20 to fill with 4 ink cartridges off e-bay. I've only needed to do that twice in 2 years! Not even touched the b/w cartridge!!
