Printer Recommendations

My good old faithful Canon ip8500 has finally bitten the dust afer a few years of hard living.
I need to replace it, but would like to know what people recommend. I get all the website stuff printed out now, just occasionally do something at home if it's a one off, I print out my own stuff at home, up to A4 and we also need to use it as a general colour printer for my lads uni work.
What is good at the moment?

Well, I have the Canon ip8700, which I guess is a newer version of what you had.
It seems fine (only had it a few months), prints quickly and decent quality.

Recently got hold of a reconditioned Canon ip4600 does a fabulous job of my photos. Very pleased with it. Expensive on ink though, I print a lot of stuff.

Where did you get the ip8700, I've not seen that anywhere

the cartridges are cheaper and the compatibles good

Canon IP4600 - fantastic A4 printer for the money, ink seems reasonable priced.

Oops - I meant the ip4700 :bang:

Still a good printer, but may well not be a simple upgrade to what you had.
