Printing onto DVD

I've had a couple of clients pay for DVDs of recent photoshoots but do not want to supply a completely blank DVD. How would I go about designing something to go on the disc itself, is this easily done or is it something I can pay for? I need something that goes on the actual disc as well as an insert for the case, my design skills are less than poor though so I have no idea where to start.

Cheers

Some of the Epson printers print on the cd/dvd. You can also get lightscribe dvd burners that etch onto the face of the cd.

You could always download Coverxp to help you print off the dvd covers, its a free program or alot of software copying programs like Nero have them as well.

you could use a Kit like these which most come with templates or you can buy a printer like one of these which a bit more costly but look more profesional as they print directly onto the dvds

CoverXP is Windows only unfortunately, is there a plcase I can get the DVDs made up? I don't sell too many so it doesn't warrant buying a specialist printer for it.

I would recomend finding a printer that will print directly onto the CD, there are a few to choose from. Lightscribe is also an option.

Printing onto CD labels is OK, but can cause issues in some DVD players, better to avoid the issues and the risk of a poor customer experience (even 5 years down the line)

Epson d5400 will print direct onto CD/DVD, obviously you need printable CD/DVD.
Photoshop the image onto a template psd format file, if you send me your mail address I can send you a template blank psd file.

I would Google (or search on here) there are quite a few places where you can buy a stack of CDs/DVDs printed with your design.

I very nearly went down that route, but I've moved my hosting to Photoshelter and use that to offer automated hi-res downloads so don't need to worry about it now.

I use a canon pixma ip4000 which prints on the CD/DVD - it also comes with the software so you can quickly slap a quick design together and click 'print' - it's discontinued now I think but the latest model (probably ip4300) should only be about £75 - and it's a cracking printer too!
