Printing sizes

I have an image I want to get printed by DSCL. It is cropped to panoramic format and ideally I want it printed 10" X 4.5". I've had a look on their site but just can't sort out how to do it.

Put your image on a 10x8 canvas and trim down when you get it.

if you set the cavas size in phtoshop to the print size 8x11 the image should be the same when printed

Or do it 2 up on a 12x10 canvas and get 2 for 1!

Depending whether it's Photoshop or Lightroom there are different ways of doing this.

As Adrian suggested then. Create a new image with the dimensions of a standard print, e.g. 10x8 or 12x8 (12x8 would give you some white space for mounting on all edges) and then drop the image you want printed onto the centre of it. Trim down as required when you get the physical print through.

(if anyone comes across this thread at a later date and uses Lightroom, the easy way with LR would be to resize for printing and then add a border with mogrify to bring the file up to a convenient printing dimension).
