I'm struggling with connecting my android tablet to my home network ,Wi-fi connection with tablet is fine ,the wife's lappy is connected to the home network so i'm a blatantly missing the obvious ,should the tablet connect to home network ? or not ? ...

Thanks in advance :)

It's a viewsonic viewpad 7, so it needs a sim card in it for 3g to work ,(sorry should've explained that) ,i have tried 3g with my vodafone sim in ,works fine on that front .

You could also opt for a mobile 3G MiFi system. Small box acts as a 3G wireless router which you can connect to a number of devices. I've the 3 version. Connects to my MacBook and iPad fine. Its about the size of a small mobile phone so it fits easily into pockets or bags

okay so it connects to 3g but not your home wifi?

if so check your router for any restrictions, for some reason i had to add the MAC address of my ipad to my home router for it to connect the first time.
