Beginner Problem downloadng photos to tablet

I have rcently purchased a Sony cybershot dsc-w830 and have run into a problem when trying to download photos to my Samsung tablet. When camera and tablet are connected via a usb cable a number of files appear in "my files".one of these is labelled DCIM,opening this reveals another file - 100MSDCF which contains my photos as jpeg's. I can view these, but they are not transferred to the tablet.
I should add that photos download successfully to a windows10 pc and that I have previously downloaded to the tablet from another camera (nikon d5100).
I'd be grateful if anyone can cast a light into my darkness.
 
Is there an automatic process on a tablet which imports files when a particular device is connected?? As on a Windows pc. Perhaps you need to set this up for your Sony. Otherwise can you do a manual copy of your jpgs?
 
I presume there is an automatic fution since everything worked ok with the nikon. I've looked for a way to do a manual copy but haven't found it yet. I'll keep trying.
