EOS utility works fine downloading to the local PC hard drive but won't work with the NAS box. Anybody seen this or know what it could be?
I'm getting my photo files with .xxx extension dumped in the target NAS drive directory. Eos Utility is set to put .cr2 files into sub-directories by date, the sub-directories are created but are empty.
expected :
target directory/2009_09_15/IMG_1234.cr2
getting:
target directory/2009_09_15/ ***empty***
and
target directory/IMG_1234.xxx
I've just set up a new PC (Vista 64 Business, my first Vista box after XP) and a new NAS box (Netgear ReadyNAS Duo, linux based EXT3 file system). I've loaded latest EOS utility 2.6 (?) from canon website. I created a share on the NAS box with a subdirectory for receiving the photos off the camera.
I have spotted a few odd things:
- EOS utility will not browse the network to find the NAS drive, I had to map the share to a drive letter
- the NAS share was initially configured on the NAS to have a recycle bin, like in windows for deleted files. After failing the download and getting the .xxx files in the target directory the recycle bin has multiple files of the syntax aaaHHHH.tmp (where HHHH looks like hexadecimal 0-9, A-F characters) with the same time and date as the .xxx files.
- repeated attempts to download get the file syntax IMG_1234_1.xxx, then _2 etc in the target directory
Permissions look good, user logged in has read/write on the share, but I've reset all permissions on the share in case it was an old directory permissions problem (directory tree was originally transferred by backup from the old XP PC)
NAS recycle bin is now switched off (and NAS rebooted) in case it was loosing temp files created during the download
