Problem with card reader.

My internal multi card reader seems to be malfunctioning.

When i plug a CF card in, the light comes on but nothing happens (I have tried 10 different cards), usually I have Bridge or LR open up too so that I can upload the photos.

Also in 'My Computer' all the drives have disappeared apart from the main drive.

When I plug the camera in via a usb port, the camera is not recognised as connected.

As you can see I cannot upload any shots.

Have I picked up some sort of malware?

How do I revert back to the way it was before.

I have done a System Restore going back at least 2 weeks but that did not resolve the issue.

Any ideas?

i assume it is a pc?

have you had a look in device manager? you may have to update the driver.
 
i would try simply disconnecting it internally within the PC and reconnecting it, see if that helps. its done the same with mine a couple of times and this seemed to fix it
 
Possibly driver problem or hardware fault.

Firstly,

Go to Start/right click My computer/properties/hardware/device manager and see if there is anything there with a yellow question mark.

Also have a look in there for Universal serial bus controllers (USB) , usually last on the list, and see if they are there and if so are there any yellow question marks.
