ok, well iv had my 5dmkii for about a month now and have noticed alot of red and blue dots on night images when using the bulb function. iv installed the 2.0.4 firmware from the origional 1.0.2 (i think it was on)

any ideas?

cheers, phil

It is normal to get a few stuck pixels when using long exposures, there is a function you can enable called "long exposure noise reduction" in the custom functions. It will increase the processing time the camera takes to render the image though but it sorts out your worries.

ahh ok, i just thought it was a bit odd- i have never once used it on my 40d, so in theory a camera 3 times the price should not have that problem...

its no biggy as you can only notice it when you zoom right in, noone would probably notice unles i really pointed it out to them (i hope )

All cameras will suffer this, irrespective of cost. Hot pixels become really evident under the conditions you are using - long exposures of dark objects. Sensor heat builds up with longer exposures and can cause a few pixels to show the symptoms you describe.

Mine had loads, sent it back to Canon for a new rear screen that failed, adding in that there where a large number of Hot and stuck pixels at long exposures.

Came back with none, not one iffy goofy stuck pixel at all.

And that is without mapping out, straight from the raw data :D

If there are loads give Canon a bell and see what they say, don't wait until your warranty runs out.
