Hi All,

My 1st post to be gentle ;-)

Im having issues with one of my lenses, and thought I'd ask you guys/gals for comments/assistance. I purchased this lens from Jessops back in August 2007.

the lens in question is a :

Tamron AF55-200 F/4-5.6 LD Macro, for use on my Canon 400D

It has had very little use, and when I tried to use it the other weekend, the Autofocus no longer functions correctly. Each time I press the shutter release, the lens goes from smallest focus, then largest focus, but never actually focuses on the object that I am trying to focus on... I am also unable to take a picture by fully depressing the shutter release.

I am able to manually focus all of the time, but still only able to take pictures some of the time when i fully depress the shutter release.

I think (and Im only guessing as Im no expert) that the auto focus has died in some way.....

So Im in a quandary - Do I try are get it repaired, or just get rid of it.....

BTW - I have spoken to Jessops about it, and the response I got means that I will never set foot in the door again, and most definitely never spend another cent with them....

Thanks

dave

These are cheap as chips second hand, you can pick one up for about £40-50.

IMHO I don't think it is really worth repairing.

Have you tried cleaning the contacts on the lens ?

If you are manually focus'ing make sure the lens is set to MF- otherwise you might find yourself unable to take the shot.
