Hi guys

A friend and I went to a butterfly farm today. Before I carry on the story, neither of us changed lenses, nor opened the battery or compact flash compartments whilst we were inside. My Canon 50D and 105mm Sigma macro de-misted after letting the camera climatize. However, my friends Nikon equipment continually steamed up, and also inside the lens too. All of his pictures come out steamy looking and dull, where as mine are fine. Anyone have any ideas?

Thank in advance

Kind regards

Sarah

Never had this problem with my D300 or D200 but did once have that lens for a very short time till I manage to break it
Check the back of the lens and see if it has a rubber seal round the mount, most Nikon lenses do but can't remember whether the 18-135 has/
Mine broke because I had the camera knocked out of my hand onto grass and this lens has a plastic mount on the back which snapped, I found it a nice sharp lens but build quality was not the best, so could be that it just isn't sealed for damp conditions

Update: turns out it is just a plastic mount. Guess he won't be using that again in a greenhouse!

Yep knew it was a plastic mount, but does it have a rubber seal around it ?

Yep means it's not totally weather proof so damp will get in, not good
