i am using a macbook pro the latest addition with retina display, as a first time mac owner i dont know if this is normal, but when using photoshop or displaying photos on my macbook they seem a lot darker then they were on the camera, and im having to over expose them on the camera to get them to look okay on the laptop, but when viewing from a diffrent laptop they look fine, is this normal???

My MBP used to do this, switch auto brightness off and make sure the screen if set to its brightest setting.

Go into 'Settings' > Displays > un-tick the box for 'Automatically adjust brightness' > then make sure the brightness slider is all the way up :)

Don't forget to check your camera screen brightness, as that will make a difference unless your just looking at the histogram just

But I find on my camera 5d2 everything is just under exposed looking, then on the 21 iMac with calibrated screen it's brighter
But got used to it yet

On a side note has adobe brought out the retina version of ps yet

I find 50% is perfect brightness for me
Why blow out the highlight for with full brightness for

i have tryed that and with some shoots it has worked but with my horse shots its not :/ they look fine on the camera you can see all the details i wanted to catch but as soon as i put it on the macbook, it goes all shadowy :/

What you are seeing , as mentioned earlier is the difference in brightness between the cameras LCD display and the Mac's.

Ideally you should use a calibration device, but if you don't have one Mac's come with a reasonable visual method

Go to System Preferences, Select displays and click on Color. You'll see an option to calibrate. Go to this and follow the instructions. It should help make things better.

the cameras LCD screen is on 0, have been out taking photos today and set the laptop's screen to full brightness as sugested and have just calibrated the screen so will give it ago and see if it makes a difference
