Please be aware if you are going to visit Canary Wharf to take photos, then its worth emailing Julia.McLeod@CanaryWharf.com saying you are an amateur and asking if you need a permit. She will email you back saying you don't, but it's worth printing her response because i went on monday and was stopped and questioned 6 times by security staff!!!! I showed them the email and they let me carry on. Be warned!!!!!

I bet they dont try that when london marathon is on do they?

Made me think....whats the general "etiquette" then? I went to Covent garden with my camera messing about and got told off inside the shoe shop but was allowed to photograph the window display:)

Do you ask peoples permission or just snap away from afar?

KentGirl - there's no problem photographing in nearly every outdoor space in London except Canary Wharf as the land is privately owned.

Marko400d - I'm glad I gave you that email address now. I'm amazed you were stopped that many times when they didn't stop me once. Was there a particular place they were over the top or was it on all of the estate? Any chance we could see some piccys too?

 sorry, but that bit made me laugh ;)

So let me get this right, it's OK to climb onto the Houses of Parliment BUT not to take photo's:woot: great system we have

Also why don't we set up a mass email to her, lets see how they cope with that

Why do that? She's the very person in a position to help us.

Thanks to the OP for the email address. Saved and very useful!

Cheers,
James
