Problems Using TP Site

I had a real problem last night on TP when accessing from my home PC.
When I visited the site the front page was fine, I could access the displayed threads ok and post replies.

When I clicked on the 'Forum' tab so I could have a look at a specific forum it took me to a log in page and locked me out of of everything. It would NOT accept my login details, stating that my username or password were wrong. I rebooted, restarted my router, all the usual stuff.

Not sure if its a factor but my internet connection at home is a bit pony recently, a speed test was showing about 0.3meg download (on what is supposed to be 8meg!) and I think it's become intermitant too.

So in effect I couldn't use the site properly which was very annoying. Frustratingly I couldn't even post a question about it as I couldn't get to the point of starting a new thread... I did think about posting it as a non-allowable reply in a for sale thread, that seems to get the mods attention pretty quickly these days!

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,

browser cache? cookies? you could try clearing all those out. bandwidth issues and packet loss would make the site slow, but I can't see it causing authentication failures.

Thanks for info Chris. Would an authentification issue have happened on the 'front' page as well? It was recognising me on that page, user name in top right corner. It was only when I navigated away from that page that it then said I wasn't logged in and wouldn't let me log in.

I did a 'control f5' which I think clears the cache, no different. I can't for the life of me think what could have caused it, but I'll see if it's the same tonight, which I suspect it might be. Maybe I'll do one of those clear all history things. Maybe I'm virused up and need to do a rebuild for the 2nd time in six months.
