Problems with Jessops 360 Flash Gun

Help required,
I have a Jessops 360AFDC flash gun that I use with my 450D. I recently used it fine, no problems. Went to change the batteries this morning, and when I turn it on, then TTL and ZOOM icons appear, and thats it. Cannot test fire it, cannot change any settings and no flash emits anymore.

What have I done? Can it be fixed?

good minds think alike - still no joy. Have tried my trusted rechargeables and then brought some duracell ultra. :(

Is it mounted on or off camera ???

Can you hear it whine as it charges up ???
 
Has the slave button been switched on ???

Possibly overiding controls ???

No the slave is set to off when I switch it on. It doesnt even do the whirring noise nor the high pitch whine as it charges up inside :( not even the light button works :( :(

Its off camera currently, and doesnt work off or on camera
 
Sounds iffy...

What about something basic that you might have missed..

Batteries correct way around in compartment ???

Otherwise could be dead...

Is it less than 12 mths old take it back to Jessops...

yeah ive checked the polarity of the batteries and they are correct. Think it is a dead un but thought id check here before returning to Jessops.
 
I have the same camera and flash gun, just changed my batteries and have never came across this problem, looks like it may have duffed on you :-(

Ok strange update. I turned the gun on into slave mode, again it stayed "dead". I fired my 450D flash at it, and now it just "chuggers" (thats the word I use to describe it) sounds like its mechanical and its getting stuck and constantly hitting something.

any ideas??
 
The only mechanical part i can think of would be the zoom mechanism.

Everything else would be electrical... :shrug:
 
After 2 mins of clicking, it decided to work!! Turned it off, and now im back to square one!!

Not sure what it was that was clicking, but you could see the light element moving!!!

Bloody thing! Lol
 
Ok if I turn it on and tap the top half, it works ?????

I wouldnt mess with it too much, just take it back to jessops...

lol not to worry im not killing it, its sat next to my monitor sulking awaiting return :) :bat:
 
I have the same issue, it is stuck on ttl and cannont change the mode or even use the back lighting for the screen only had a few days. So taking mine back as i assuming i was just unlucky with the one i've got.
