Problems with Nikon ViewNX2

I seem to be having problems with ViewNX2, and have uninstalled and reinstalled it from the disc which came with my D5300 - it shows a reference DE22 (is that a version number?)

Basically, using the "Transfer" function, it comes to the end of the exercise and appears to hang with "one photo in the queue" and (say) "84 of 85 photos transferring" - after a short while, it shows that NikonTransfer2 is not responding and I have to close the program

If I have another memory card to transfer, I find that the "Transfer" button is then greyed out and unavailable, so I have to shut down my computer and fire it up again in order to be able to access the transfer feature once more

This happened again this morning, and although it told me that there was one photo in the queue, when I checked on the computer drive, the card was in fact holding five images out of 303 - and the second card one out of 85

I transferred these over by cutting and pasting, otherwise they would have still be on the cards when next the camera was used

This has occurred over a period now, and at present I am only shooting jpegs as I need to upgrade to Elements 13 to be able to work on RAW Nikon images

Would be grateful to know if anyone else has had such a problem, and if there is a resolution to it

Have you tried downloading from Nikon,
 
Did you know View nx will make you a tiff copy of your raw file,i do this and save it to a folder on my desktop then in Elements 11 open it as a raw file and edit in ACR and then Photosop E11,after i have finished i dump the tiff file,trying to bring myself to buy 13 ;)

Thinking back to when I was trying to access NEF files with it, I was given the same suggestion, which I carried out, so . . . .
The version which wasn't working, which I uninstalled this morning, was the download from Nikon
Thus, I am getting the same from the disc which came with my D5100, the Nikon download, and the disc which came with my D5300

I didn't have much luck with View NX-i - it ran dog slow - so slow that I thought it had crashed every time I opened an image.

If you want to try it, be warned that it will uninstall View NX2 as part of its installation routine. But if you then re-install View NX2 they will co-exist quite happily...
