Problems with vibration? Downhill biking with camera in bag

hey,
i was wondering how much of a problem repeated large vibrations are for a camera/lens, we are talking 70-200 2.8 is and canon 1d3 here.

they would be in a foam lined peli case to help absorb them, and protect them in case of impact

I too have wondered about this, but over the vibrations of being in a bus/car. I will be interested to read the answers.

Have seen this asked some where before and the general replies were that it would be ok in a backpack but not directly attatched to the bike.

and i don't think a bus/car is going to cause lenses any damage

my other concern is large impacts as my body hits the ground which tends to happen far too often! but i think in a foam peli it should be alright

They will be fine, I ride DH with the cameras in the backpack all the time. Will only have a problem if you fall off badly and crush the camera.

Had many a fall from my mountain bike and never landed on my back.....yet. I think having that gear on your back will make you a little more carefull

nope it wont make me more careful! and i have had many falls on my back, broke my old compact when it was just in the bag and no hard case.
downhill biking is no fun if you are careful and its often harder too unless you just commit to it 100%.

but i have it a wall, peli dont make any sensibly sized cases that fit a 1d3 and 70-200.
