Having a Sunday afternoon mess about and suddenly decided to have a go at some type of product/advertisement shot, so needing to develop some PP skils here's my first effort(s), so should I stick with my day job

A few things with this type of product shot:
Never have more wine out of the bottle than you have in the glass!
Best to have two glasses - don't want to suggest someone drinking alone.
Label on the bottle MUST be square on - and legible.
Cap should probably be off the bottle.
You need a nice 'window' type highlight on the glass/bottle.
Bottle/glass in this shot looks a bit lifeless.
You must make me want to go and buy!
You probably need to shoot horizontal and vertical - and allow space for type.
If you use a longer lens (from further back) it will 'pull up' the background and maybe help fill the frame with the fire.
No point in practising PP till you get the shot right first.

Great feedback from Andrew there, I would agree with all points. Also I know it's a personal thing but the white vignetting is a big turn off for me.

Keep at it Paul!

Phew.....I'll stick with the day job then  Thanks for the detail, some very good pointers there and certainly all taken on board.

FWIW I bought it off a Supermarket shelf with the cap on! (But I knew already what was inside, hmmm.....) :naughty:

I can assure you that the original is tons sharper, I agree it looks pretty soft on here so I can only presume it got lost in the upload

:) bottles are amongst the more difficult product shots to master - and certainly not advised after you've drunk half the bottle! :)

I promise I hadn't drunk half the bottle, just a quick slurp ;)

Just to illustrate the loss of sharpness in the upload, here's a crop from the #1 which hasn't suffered the same fate.
