hi all

i currently have a very basic website

i would now like to make this more professional, by having a client areas

with this they can also order prints and linked to a data base of some form so i can chose where i get these developed.

i would like to have different pages like

home,

contact,

galleries,

Prices and Info.

client area, in this linked to a excel sheet may be with the order of prints the customer would like. etc

how easy is this to do?
 
If you've never designed a site before it's not going to be easy. There are content management systems though, Google it.

You could always hire a webdesigner to do it for you though.

although it doesn't have an obvious client area, each customer has their own gallery, i.e. www.danieljamesphotography.net/customername

this is deleted around a month after (when they've ordered basically), for security reasons

I use JAlbum for my album generating software (free!!!) which i've integrated PayPal into (though not fully tested this part yet) for online ordering :) (e-mail ordered to me from PayPal)
 
I've been faffing about with Joomla and gallery2 for a while and with minimal customisation have got something reasonable out of it.

This isn't a working site, it's just playing about on a spare domain I have so there's still a few bits to sort out properly :) The galleries are a bit slow to load just now, think it's the hosting but I'm not sure.

A designer will design it, but you need a developer to actually build it to a high enough standard. Designers and developers are two different things.

That is a very very good point. There is a massive differnce between installing a CMS system, and developing it to the point of being a comercially acceptable product
 
Try Bludomain they have a wide range of templates available which may suite your needs?

Mine was made by them and you get a lot of control over the content ie uploading/changing images. Adjusting text and viewable areas. Passwording galleries etc.
