Yes
does anyone know if its possible to show prints via a computer and projector without being restricted in size.
at our club we cannot show anything higher than 768 pixels or wider than 1024

It depends a lot on the computer (graphics card mainly), and the graphics devices plugged into it.

How have you set up the two outputs? From your description, it sounds like you have set the projector to be a clone of the main desktop?
In this case, then the resolution will be limited to the smallest of the available resolutions, which sounds like the projector at 1024x728

1600x1200 seems to be the largest available at the moment, and would be expensive.
 
the limit is the size of the display unit inside the projector.... gotta remember, inside the projector is a transparent LCD display that is really small. the light shines in through it to project the image on to the screen... most mid-low end projectors are SVGA (800x600) - i'm lucky enough to have picked up a "cheap" (£400) projector a few years ago in a sale that is XGA (1024x768) which does make a huge difference.
