I need to send off a copy of something as a proof of ID. But my passport has been sent back for renewal and I do not drive, so no license.

So what will convince them I am myself, which I am?

Birth certificate, gas/electric bill in your name at your address can all sometimes be used but as they ^ said it depends who wants it and what for.
 
Put a picture of yourself on here and I will confirm its you or a solicitor can do it for you but they will charge for this service Me I will do it for free(y)

It is for an insurance claim to get my lens fixed. Sigma said it was impact damage so not covered by the warranty. Grrr.

The utility bill had already been used as proof of address so I scanned my birth certificate as that is usually what usually gets requested.

Then I thought having that does not really prove much, although then again when posting copies what does as anything could be faked? So I also scanned my old railway season ticket photo ID to be on the safe side.

Just have to hope that is enough now.
