Protecting Filters inc new 105mm Polariser

Hi,

I am perhaps a little over-protective... or maybe not!

My Lee filters are placed inside a Lee filter wrap before being placed inside the deeper padded pouch that came with my foundation kit (2 filter wraps holding 2 filters each fit snuggly into the padded pouch). I then use one of the less deep padded pouches that come with the individual filters to house the filter holder.

I have just got a 105mm polariser (Helipoan) and the Lee accessory ring. My real question is how would you guys look after this bad boy? It would fit nicely into the Lee accessory ring pouch (It's a nice touch, but does it really cost £30+ to manufacture a metal ring - how much are we paying for the packaging?! :nuts without any further protection - but should I really be getting another filter wrap for it?

How do you look after your filters?

I stick all my filters in an old square hardbacked CD case. I put one in every second sleeve so there's a bit more between them. Not sure if thy are as generously built these days and certainly the circular ones would be no use for square filters or the 105.

As for the Lee pouches- I just keep the holders, adaptors and step up/down rings in mine.

All that just goes in another bag of some type depending on what I'm doing. Seem to have survived fine like this and they've been hauled up cliff faces and such like. If you wrap them up in too much cotton wool the sun will be down/up by the time you get them set up

Thanks for your thoughts Dr O! I guess most people don't bother to look after their kit :shrug:

Good point about set-up time though...

For the time being I have just slipped the 105 into the Lee front ring pouch.

(And, now the front ring is on the foundation kit, it won't fit into the Lee filter pouch anymore, damn! :bonk
