Spent last Sunday on Rathlin Island off the north coast of northern Ireland. I knew from previous visits that puffins nest there but had never been there at the right time of year. What i didnt realise was that they nested so far away from the viewing point with no way of getting down the cliffs to get closer to them. Here are what i think are the best of a not great bunch. All taken with a sigma 150-500 at 500mm at f8 and varying ISO and shutter speeds. All comments welcome.

Agree with Matt about cropping the Puffin shots as they are worth it. I particularly like the Kittiwakes

Nice shots, although aren't your Kittiwakes actually Razorbills?

Yes they are Razorbills. All looking a tad soft tho. It is damn difficult to get sharp shots if you can't get close enough to the subjects and have to heavily crop the images afterwards. All good fun getting them all the same(y)

Love those Puffins Philip, next to Penguins they are my favourite birds but I hardly ever get to see any. Last time I saw any was at a zoo and it was so difficult to shoot them through glass viewing panels.
