Apparently good places to see puffins are Farne Islands, Northumberland; Skomer Island, SW Wales, and Isle of May, Scotland. Skomer is closer - has anyone been there (or anywhere else) for puffins and if so, what did ye think of it?

Thanks

Matt and I have had a day at the Farne Islands and came back with some excellent puffin shots.

We also managed to get some great Tern photos as well.
I would highly recommended it but book in advance, take a hat and some tissues ;)

If you are going to travel to the Farnes book first, make sure you don't go when its holiday season, as the boats will be chocker.

Here's a link to Glad tidings boat tours.

The best trip is the All day bird trip, as you get to land on two Islands (which you have to pay the NT for landing, unless your a member).

The best Time for seeing the puffins is May/June, when they spend most of the time rearing chicks.

Pray for a slightly over cast day, as the harsh light from a sunny day will play hell with the metering on most of the birds.
