Purchasing DSLR for Wedding Photography

But this is my point - as I said I used a 6d as a main camera for a wedding on Saturday and at times had to shoot indoors at 10,000 iso with no flash (my decision). The files were clear, clean and as detailed as you would expect from much lower ISOs and I was able to pull pretty much all the detail from the scene shadows. If one camera (be it d750 / 810, Sony FF etc, I won't include any more Canon bodies as the 6d has the edge Canon wise IMO) can pull more detail from the shadows, I'm not sure where this detail is coming from :)

Its discussions like these that tell me how spoilt we are (technically)!

You're right there mind. The other stuff we'll just have to disagree on :)

You're right, and you're also right in that all the cameras you mentioned will produce stunning images, and images that not so long ago you could only dream of. However, all this aside and looking objectively rather than subjectively whilst the 6D is an excellent camera the D750 is significantly better, which as you say just shows how spoilt we are.

Forgot autofocus :exit:
I wasn't going to mention this either :) The centre point on the 6d is designed for low light (+3 ev more sensitive than normal and ahem, above the D750) so its actually more often than not the better camera in low light in terms of AF accuracy.

But any current FF body would do the job admirably.

Anyway it's all moot as the OP has bought the d750!

Oh really? The D750 is also rated for -3EV, except all 51 POINTS are rated to -3EV, not just one ;). Glad that single point works for you though.

And what EV does the D750 AF to?

Beat me to it ;)

I wondered when the ultimate d750 fan boy would turn up :) I mainly use single AF points as I want to be very specific on where it focuses, half the time I use centre point on the 7d2 and 50d / 70d too, both of which have excel with multi point AF, its just how I shoot, but thats by the by. I've even set the RX100 up in the same way.

I wonder who the real fanboy is, there's only one person here that seems to be arguing against the facts :p

Somebody had to rescue people from the ultimate 6d fanboy. ;)

But thats not what you said, you said the 6d rated and is better than the D750 at low light AF in terms of AF accuracy. You seem to be ignoring facts.

Not a fanboy :) I don't really care what I shoot with - I shoot across 4 different systems, I just think the 6d is a rather good wedding camera!

I did didn't I! Ok, maybe not better than the d750, I should have said better than most!

Edit - this is what it boils down to, nothing in it compared to a d800 which is the pretty much the same as the d750, BUT, I concede to the extra AF points :), but my point being the Canon 6d AF is rather good, especially in low light, hense better than most for weddings. Personally I wouldn't want to shoot a wedding with 50 other AF points fighting for supremacy but thats just me!

Anyway I must depart for now, I have a Sandisc CF card with wedding images on it thats heating up in the reader and not reading o_O

Use single point AF then? I'd rather have the low light AF on any single AF point that I choose.

And if you shot with a D750, you wouldn't have that CF card issue either :P

Yes, I'm being pedantic about the AF now, cant you tell? ;)

The 6d is nothing to do with the CF card issue, clearly that card came from a different camera :) Luckily I didn't shoot much on this card / camera but still.

Now this card isn't being recognised by the PC either. So much for Sandisc, but thats another thread....

I use C-AF with single point focus but rarely the central one.

I use the arrows and move it into position so that the composition is ready whilst I C-AF on the subject's eye.

I used to shoot that way with the 50d (and other Canon bodies with the rear joystick as I always found the joystick quite intuitive) but I just prefer to focus and re compose, it's just the way I do it now. In fact, every camera I unbox I set up this way straight away!

Nikon D750 would be my choice as the best "all around" camera/system available right now... especially given the cost.

My next choice budget lens for weddings/events would probably be the 70-200/4 or the Sigma 24-70/2.8.

The D750 is probably the best wedding camera, except the shutter is anything but quiet. Except the rear screen for wedding photography is useless as focusing takes soooo long. In those two 'rare' cases the 6D is far superior because at least you'll get some photographs before being ejected from the church for taking photos.

Except that the 6D live view is the same speed as the D750 LV, neither are fast, the 70D is pretty much the only DSLR that is reasonable in comparison to mirrorless.

But thats still only 1 thing, they both suck at LV AF.
Can't think I'd ever want to use LV when shooting weddings.

Just because you dont find it useful (like better AF / more DR / better ISO etc etc etc) doesnt mean others dont.
It was a lighthearted comment, relax.
