ive noticed theres a few members from edinburgh on here. does anyone know if there is a qualification i could do say at uni?

many thanks

I did the BA(hons) degree at Napier's DaMA (Design & Media Arts) school. Not bad but a bit heavy on theory and light on practical.

Stevenson College do a HND and I understand the course and college photographic facilities are very good. I'm applying there for September.

i did an evening class at the new Telford College - the studio experience was great but the structure to the course was pretty poor. our lecturer could never remember what we had covered the weeks before therefore some of it was repetitive! its definitely worth a phone call or even better go in and see them. i have a contact name/email for head of photography dept if that would help.

bit far away but dumfries and college , im doing a hnd there in photography and loving it !

Just along the road but currently doing a HNC at West Lothian in Livingston - then on to do a HND at Stevenson from the summer is what i have planned

Napier I am told is good but with a HUGE amount of applications.

Im applying for Photography and Film this year at Napier :) and Ediburgh College of Art offer the choice of Photography in second year after a first year of general art studies.
Also as said by stellarbeam, Stevenson College are supposedly great for Photography, and gives you the chance to enter either of the above courses in 2nd year.

Napier I am told is good but with a HUGE amount of applications.

The Napier Degree is good and well regarded hence the large number of applicants. There is also a smaller number of places than most courses which makes it that bit trickier to get in.

yeah rumour has it around 3000 applications for 26 places and of those every second year 10/12 of them go to foreign students.

I would doubt it's that much. There were around 40 in my first year and about 5-6 of them were foreign. By the time it got to 4th year there was only 12 or so of us left on the course with half doing stills and the other half doing film.

couldn't really say - just what i was told by our lecturer - being around 300 applications - short list of around 3/400 and around 26 places at the end.
