Yes
Apparently being the RAF's 90th birthday they are going all out on this one.

Rumour has it the're going to be the BBMF lancaster, 2 x hurricanes, 2 x spitfires plus possible the dakota.
The on the jets they've got C-130 + 2 Kingairs, 9xTyphoons, VC-10 + 2 Tornado F3 + E3 Sentry, 11 Tornado F-3, C-17 + 2 F-3, Nimrod + 2 F-3, Tristar + 2 S125, 16 Tornado GR-4

Should be quite a show.

Ooh, any idea what time, I am usually on the direct flightpath for those things so I can watch even if I can't take photos!!

So all I need to do is find out where I am in the middle of all those numbers, its hard enough knowing where I am normally

Are they doing it over Buckinham Palace? Anyone got more info like specific times on this? I will DEFINATELY be going to this as i'm back in London on Friday. Plus got a great shot of the 90th Birthday flyover a few months ago.

It starts at 1pm and they go through at 40 second intervals - from NDS news
Each of the formation elements will fly over Buckingham Palace at intervals of 40 seconds at an altitude of 1,500 feet starting at 1.00 pm precisely. The flypast will be approximately 14 nautical miles long, and will take three-and-a-half minutes to fly overhead. If the weather is unfavourable the flypast will be postponed for four hours, to 5.00 pm.

Hmmm, anyone got any flightplan in more detail over London, specifically Buckingham Palace? Anyone know the direction at which they will be flying over the Palace?

They'll be flying west up The Mall from Trafalgar Square then after the palace, seems they will be turning right over Hyde Park.

I'm gonna see if there are any sweet spots in Green Park that give a decent view without too many tree's

Yeah I was hoping they would fly up The Mall, I have a perfect shot in mind for that :D

Time to get the old 17-40 out once again for this flyover.

I'm also taking a laptop with me with 3G mobile broadband so that I can send my best shots off to all the London newspapers and BBC London Tonight.

Well make the most of it, I saw on yahoo mail the UN are saying the Royal family should go

And you know the European trash normally get their own way, total jealousy

I went, was pretty cool. Soooo busy around there, millions of tourists. I don't think I heard anyone speak english all day :D

Didn't get any great shots like the last flyover sadly, the Red Arrows didn't make an appearance which was really annoying, I could have got a great one if they had...with their smoke and all. I was in the perfect position for it aswel :(

Last time I went to London I think I was the only Englishman there, I certainly didn't buy anything from an English person

i see around 30 planes today there was a group of 12 jets in a square formation and a big bomber looking plane and another group of jets flying like Geese all over the buckinghamshire area. sorry about the plane description but its not my thing

Been reading about the controversy over the Nimrod flying, apparently it was deemed unairworthy. Oh well looking forward to seeing peoples shots.

They normally stack right on top of us while the groups form but they went straight across today - about 1/2 mile away so all I got was some distant planes in low cloud

Put a few of my shots up on Flickr:

Got a load more (took almost 200) but overall wasn't really happy with my shots today. Could have got a show-stopper if the Red Arrows had taken part, their smoke trails all the way up The Mall would have been a brilliant photo from where I was standing.

Also noticed today how much I need a 2nd body. After the first few shots I was seriously regretting using my 17-40 over my 70-200. The last flyover the 17-40 worked so well, was so proud of that London Eye photo, but for this one I wish I had used my 70-200. I was expecting the Red Arrows and had they taken part, the 17-40 would have probably worked better :(

Hi, I am a Sea Cadet and took part in the flypast today. There were 150 cadets on board the Tristar followed by various jets such as the Red Arrows. We flew over Norfolk and then down to London and over the city then the final approach was the flypast over the palace before heading back to base. Was an amazing experience and will upload videos/photos ASAP.

I think the 'Reds' are currently in Canada or the USA. Promoting the BAE Hawk.

The Red Arrows are currently in base Brize Norton. I know this because I got to fly in the RAF Tristar today and they were behind us.
