I bought my daughter an EOS 800D and want to get her a battery grip for xmas.
Ive looked all the web including canon store and cant find a canon branded one for this camera.
the Bg-e18 is for the Canon EOS 750/760 and uses the same LP-E17 batteries but it does not proport to be specifically designed for the 800D

can anyone shed any light on this.
thankyou

There doesn't seem to be an official Canon grip for this camera. However, there are third-party grips out there that work. That means there's nothing about the camera which makes it fundamentally incompatible with a grip.

So I think your options are:
  1. buy a third-party grip
  2. buy a BG-E18, check whether it fits, and if not return it and get a third-party grip.

Thanks for your reply.

I can’t understand why canon haven’t got a grip for this expensive beginner camera. I didn’t want a third party because of issues or limitations they have.
