Question about Canon Flash

Hi, I'm new to this site. But enjoy reading all about what you have to say. I'm new to photography and have recently gotten a 7d with a 24-105 lens.

However, I want a flash for when im inside to get decent photos. I'm looking at either the 430ex ii, or the 600 ex. However I am trying to work out if it's worth spending the extra £140 on the 600 ex.

So any adivce, comment or suggestions.

If you can afford it, go for the 600ex. Because it has inbuilt radio triggering, so when you go for your 2nd flash you can buy one with a radio slave. At the moment the 430 ex series has no radio slave, so if you decide to go Canon radio in the future, you'd end up selling it.

However, I'd go for a cheaper flashgun (either the canon 430 ex or the Nissin di 866) and the YN 622c radio remote control system (if it was my money today).

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it, getting into this hobby seems like a whole new world. And everytime I feel happy about one thing, I feel I need another...

I am happy to go for a cheaper model, however was not sure if they were any good or not. I think that I will either invest in the 600ex or save and get the third party flash.
 
I've been using a 430EX for years, mainly outdoors. It works great and keeps on going even in the rain. I've certainly had good value from it.
 
You could consider a used 580EX mk2 - very solid reliable flashgun with lots of great features..

Still hundreds and thousands of them in the world though - just because it's discontinued doesn't mean it gets consigned to the scrap heap.. It's a very versatile, competent flashgun, and shouldn't be overlooked as an option for anyone choosing a flashgun... (Note: I said 'used')
