Question about Canon SX10 IS please.

It's 4 AA batteries for this camera, my wife has the SX10 IS but uses rechargeables. Good choice of P & S btw. this has taken some excellent shots for the missus who just keeps it on auto.
If you have a speedlite you can use it on this sx10 too though it does become a bit top heavy.
