Bit of a strange and very direct question, but I'm thinking of getting a lens coat for my Nikon 300mm F4 AFS. I've seen a few from the likes of lenscoat and wildlife watching supplies. My question is that as the lens has a fixed and extending lens hood, how does the cover work with this. For the photos I've seen on the internet, the front cover extends from the focus ring all the way to the front as one piece, but the focus ring obviously needs to rotate but the lens hood remains fixed and doesn't.

I know I said it was a weird question, but would appreciate if anyone has tried it ?

When I extend the hood the focus ring is not covered. It's only covered when the hood is retracted and stored. I can't remember where I purchased it, costs about £40. Trouble with mine is that I fitted a Kirk Collar so had to modify the coat and it's not ideal.
