Question about light, f-stop and focal lengths

Yes
Hi all, sorry if these questions seem a little basic, but I'd just like to clear a few things up...

Ok, I own the Nikon 70-300vr f3.5-5.6, not a bad lens by any means. I would like to own the 70-200vr f2.8 (or even the vrII).

I'm getting into motorsport photography these days and often shoot around the 150mm mark at a shutter speed of say 1/200 and iso 200. Let's say that for the conditions, this gives an aperture of f5.

Would the 70-200 give the same f-stop when used at the same focal length, shutter speed, iso and lighting conditions? I'm guessing it would.

I see plenty of people using this lens and wonder whether there's more to it than it's low light capabilities?

Thanks all :)

Yes, same f-stop in the circumstances you describe.
Not had personal experience of the 70-200, but it seems to have a good reputation. However, the 70 - 300 is sharp at around 150 - 200mm and fine beyond that if stopped down to f8 / f9.
