Question for LEE filter holder users

Hi, I want to have the option of rotation of two filters and on looking at the LEE options I see an option to upgrade the foundation kit to the pro (as they put it) setup with the use of an upgrade kit but!! they also have a tandem adapter that I believe joins two filter holders together. Does useing this tandem adapter get the same result as useing the upgrade kit as I already have an additional foundation kit?
Many Thanks
Hope you understand the question.

The main advantage of adding the Pro add on to the foundation kit is it allows the add on to rotate which is mainly used with the Lee polarising filter. If you do not intend using the Lee polariser or equivalent then you can go ahead and add the additional kit you have to increase the filter stacking capability. You would need to get some longer screws.

Living where you do I would assume you would want the polarising filter facility :-)

Hi, Firstly, Thanks for the reply.
Yes I was considering the LEE square polarisor, the reason I asked "If I buy the tandem adapter will this do the same job as the Pro add on?" As I said in the OP I already have two foundation kits and looking at the tandem adapter it seems to do the job as the pro. Unfourtunate for me where I live sometimes is a pain in the neck, we don't have photographic shops that deal with this kind of equipment so I can go and see.
Thanks Again

Yes, the pro upgrade is another foundation kit and the tandem ring, if you already have 2 foundation kits you just need the tandem ring.

Be aware that by the time you've got a 2 slot nearest the lens, then the tandem ring and another foundation kit it is getting pretty deep and at wide angles it will intrude into the shot (not just vignetting but actually right into the shot).

As an alternative I rebuilt my second holder with just one slot and the adaptor ring on the front for the 105mm CPL. My first holder is just built with 2 slots. If necessary I could tandem them up to take 2 slot-in filters and the CPL but more often I simply use 1 slot-in and the CPL. With this set up I can get down to about 18/19mm on my 1Ds mkii without vignetting.

Hi, Thanks for the reply, I also use the 1Ds Mk II along with 17-40 & 70-200 none IS:'(, It was also my intention to only use the one slot on the front holder for the polarisor so you answered another question for me also:)
Again Many Thanks
Russ
